Media Release from the Promoters:

We are very sad to advise that Harvest Rock 2011 has been cancelled due to lack of ticket sales. Please read the following media release relating to his. Thankyou to all those people that supported the event to date and we are sorry we could not make Harvest Rock a reality. All tickets will be refunded.

“Some months ago the Merredin Shire Council took a decision that a major music festival be held in Merredin in 2011. Harves…t Rock was born. A group of dedicated staff and volunteers commenced making this a reality.

Unfortunately the event has not been supported to the extent that it can proceed being confident that it can be held without incurring a substantial loss. Ticket sales to date have been disappointing and Council has made the financially responsible decision that because of the lack of confirmed sales Harvest Rock must be abandoned.

Council thanks volunteers, sponsors, supporters and of course its staff for their commitment and support.”

Harvest Rock is a unique open air concert held in a rock quarry surrounded by bush on the edge of the Wheatbelt town of Merredin, 260km East of Perth.

The event will showcase iconic Australian artists, with support from local and regional acts. The season in the Wheatbelt is harvest, so expect to see plenty of action in the surrounding paddocks!

There will be free (self catered) camping and parking available at the event which kicks off late afternoon on Saturday 19th November 2011 and rocks on til the early hours of Sunday. Come and see some great Australian artists set against a truly incredible rock backdrop at Harvest Rock 2011.

FIRE IN THE HOLE MUSIC FESTIVAL – Rescheduling to 2012.
by Fire in the Hole Music Festival on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at 6:56pm.
DECIBEL EVENTS | GUITAR GODS | FIRE IN THE HOLE MUSIC FESTIVAL 2012

Media Release
13 November 2011

(FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE)

Decibel Events and Guitar Gods are proud to present the inaugural “FIRE IN THE HOLE Music Festival”, Western Australia’s largest dedicated rock music venture for local professional artists. Some say it’s “old school” – that’s the whole point! West Coast is familiar and friendly – and there’s no better way to enjoy a full day of rock music and festivities than to ROCK OUT on the West Coast – where dreams are made!

There will be some twelve West Australian acts on the bill. Food and beverages will be available at the festival and we aim to not only showcase the music, but also to have marquees available for community and music businesses.

The objective of this one day event is to raise awareness of the local rock music industry in a fun, family environment and provide a platform for our invited local artists to showcase their talent to the wider community at a festival uniquely for rock on the West Coast.

There are many dedicated festivals for different music varieties, but no exclusive festivals that include the full diversity of these West Australian rock entertainers, showmen and women.

The FIRE IN THE HOLE Music Festival is a platform to potentially include in band’s touring schedules and a venture to assist in the promotion of all WA rock artists, from “original” to “conceptual and corporate”, proudly sharing the wealth of talent that exists in WA, without segregation of form within the melodic genres.

Each year, beginning with the inaugural festival, a group of West Australian rock music industry peers will elect a recipient for Fire in the Hole Music Festival’s virtual Rock Industry Wall of Fame, and who will also receive a Rock Industry Music Award of appreciation for services to the West Coast rock music community at a ceremony to be held during the Fire in the Hole Music Festival.

The recipient will be a person who is:
■not limited to performers – anyone who has made a significant contribution and dedicated their career to the WA rock music industry
■a person who is respected and admired for their achievements in and/or for the West Coast rock music scene

Running the festival at cost neutral, a donation will be made from the festival to ‘a Cancer Charity (TBA)’.

In unification with this event, we are also aiming to raise awareness for three exceptional causes; LandAid, Enough is Enough and The Grey Man.

Enough is Enough (www.facebook.com/EnoughisEnoughWA) – The Enough is Enough campaign has been created to raise awareness of the problems in the community with reckless and drink driving attitudes. A ‘new generation’ campaign targeting new drivers and the future of WA roads.

LandAid (www.landaid.org.au) – Unity, Restoration, Perpetuation One Heart, One Land – United, we aid communities in need and move forward together.

Conceived by fellow musician and Executive Director, Jac Dalton, LandAid is launching nationally in September at the Royal Show in South Australia. ‘Fire in the Hole’ is proud to be associated with LandAid’s first West Australian promotion.

The Grey Man (www.thegreyman.org) – Rescue, Justice, Prevention & Infrastructure – “No one is free while children are enslaved”.

FIRE IN THE HOLE Music Festival is a Showcase and Celebration with Perth’s Rock Music Fraternity.

Rock and Rebuild with Sir Bob Geldof

On 1st May, 2011, Sir Bob Geldof will be joined by Jon Stevens (Noiseworks, INXS) and Danielle Spencer for a one-off show in Sydney at the Lyric Theatre, Star City Casino. All monies raised through ticket sales and donations will help support the Australian Red Cross for their Victoria Floods Appeal, New Zealand Earthquake Appeal and Japan and Pacific Disaster Appeal as well as the Queensland Premier’s Disaster Relief Fund to provide hope and inspiration to communities affected by recent natural disasters in Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

Perth band Stone Circle, fresh from the launch of their second album “Living For The Sunshine”, have been personally invited by Sir Bob Geldof’s management to perform at the exclusive after party of the charity event ‘Rock and Rebuild’ on Sunday 1st May, 2011, also to be held at the Star City Casino in Sydney NSW. This after party event will see Stone Circle perform in the casino’s newest bar “Rock Lily” to a guest list of Sir Bob’s personal friends and music industry colleagues.

In January 2011, Sir Bob’s management was provided an advance copy of the new Stone Circle album “Living for the Sunshine”. More requests for copies of the album materialised and in early April Stone Circle received a phone call informing them of Sir Bob’s intentions to put on the charity event. Stone Circle were asked to be part of the official after party as confirmation of the gig with major sponsors ANZ and Star City Casino was received.

Press Reviews of Stone Circle’s live performances and their new album “Living for the Sunshine”
This was a gig that will be talked about for years by everyone who saw it, such was the quality of the performances by each musician and the songs performed. If you like your rock hard and don’t like Stone Circle, there’s something wrong with you. Chris Martin Spaceship News

All the normal Stone Circle traits were showcased – classy & mature song writing, incredibly tight rhythm section in Craig Skelton and Derrin Kee, stunning Van Halenesque fret abuse from Scott Howe, the best harmonies this side of Bon Jovi, and of course lead singer “Harry” Harris’s super-strength vocals and magnetic stage work. RockPit

With a mixture of power-packed hard rock and more contemporary pop rock, the music is easily accessible and unsurprisingly popular considering Australia’s long-standing love affair with rock music….Stone Circle pay homage to the days when guitar solos were king and music was all about the babes. Any fans of the heyday of rock’n’roll should consider giving Stone Circle a listen. Careful, they’re loud. SHAUN COWE X Press Magazine

“Living for the Sunshine” is razor sharp modern AOR which begs to be played on radio… You won’t find a better, more polished US flavoured rock album from an Australian band any time soon – “Living for the Sunshine” is a collection of classy, catchy, rocking tunes. RockPit

Stone Circle’s latest album “Living for the Sunshine” is available from all good record stores including Mills, Dadda’s, 78 Records and online through iTunes and Reverb Nation

Tickets to the “Rock and Rebuild” charity event are available from Ticketmaster.
